Shipper
The party the freight is picked up from at the start of the load.
Also called: Origin, Pickup.
Does it pay the driver? Not a pay item.
A party on the load; what happened there decides the pay.
The shipper loads the trailer, either ahead of time for a plain pickup or while the driver waits for a live load. The dispatch sheet names them with an address and an appointment time.
How long the driver spends at the shipper is what decides whether the pickup pays anything extra: a hooked pre-loaded trailer pays nothing, a live load pays the live-load amount, and a long wait past that may pay detention.
