Pay sheet
The page that shows a driver what they were paid for the week, load by load and line by line.
Also called: Pay statement, Driver settlement, Pay stub.
Does it pay the driver? Not a pay item.
The page the pay is written on.
A good pay sheet lists each load with its number and miles, the per-mile rate, each extra with what it was for, the week’s bonus and paid-back receipts, any cash advance taken off, and the net. The driver can check it against their own notes, and so can the owner a year later.
Some carriers call the statement they send the owner a driver settlement, which muddles two different papers. The settlement is what the carrier paid the owner; the pay sheet is what the owner paid the driver.
There is a free printable pay sheet template and a calculator that fills one in among the tools on this site.

- Settlement — The carrier’s statement of what it owes the owner-operator for a load, and the check that pays it.
- Cash advance — Money handed to a driver before payday, taken off their next pay.
- Reimbursement — Paying a driver back for something they bought for the load out of their own pocket — a toll, a wash, cash fuel.
