Cash advance
Money handed to a driver before payday, taken off their next pay.
Also called: Advance, Draw.
Does it pay the driver? Not a pay item.
It is a deduction from pay already earned, not a pay line of its own.
An advance is pay given early: the driver needs cash on the road, or asks for part of the week before Friday. It is not extra pay. It comes off the next pay sheet as a deduction, so the week’s net is what was earned minus what was already handed over.
On a pay sheet the advance should be its own line with the date, so both sides can see it was counted once and only once.
