Drop and hook

The driver drops the trailer they arrived with and hooks a waiting one — no live loading or unloading.

Does it pay the driver? No — miles only.

No dock time; the miles cover it.

Drop and hook is the fast kind of stop: swap trailers and go. There is no dock time, so it pays no live-load amount and rarely any detention.

It is the opposite of a live load or a live unload, where the driver waits while the freight is handled.
